Re: Calculate nearest neighbor degree?
Hi, Sebastien is right about the average especially when relating to power law distributions. However, the ANND or ANNS (avg nearest neighbor degree or -strength resp.) are used some times to estimate a degree of assortativity in the network: i.e. are higher degree nodes more likely to be connected ...

Re: Negative Modularity Scores - help appreciated.
Hi Hugh, the modularity measure is characterized as follows (Newman, 2008): "strictly less than 1, and takes positive values if there are more edges between vertices of the same type than we would expect by chance, and negative ones if there are less". "Say 3 types of ethnic class: black white & oth...

Re: Closeness centrality
Dear Sebastien, thanks for the info. However, there are some things that remain unclear from both the Gephi interface & the explanation given here. - For eigenvector centrality in directed networks, which eigenvalues are used? left or right? In-centrality uses the right eigenvector, and vice versa. ...

Closeness centrality
Hi, is the closeness centrality calculated here the mean of the geodesic paths or the inverse of that? If it is the mean of the geodesic paths (as I might conclude from the short description), then having a low mean path length actually gives a node a low centrality value. So mostly, the inverse of ...

Re: Katz–Bonacich network centrality
Hi, first a big up for the community and the soft of Gephi! I've been starting on it a few weeks ago. Maybe a n00b question, but I can't get the code described. Or how do I install it in Gephi? (I'm completely not into Java yet, more a theory guy, so...) And is there a good starting point to get int...

Re: Failure to increase min size
Uninstalled Gephi, updated Java again, reinstalled Gephi... file uploaded with 5,8 mio nodes, gephi can see 2.5 mio nodes for now, cpu goes to 450%, mem to 4.75GB. At first sight it seems the ram block has been lifted! However, not going to 12GB ram yet... Maybe more of a cpu problem now? or somethi...

Re: Failure to increase min size
I also installed Gephi on a macbook pro 4gb ram. Load a large node file. Changed the config file, and can see the mem going up to 2,06GB at the moment (installed 2000m as a max limit in the config file). Then gephi crashes reporting max amount of mem reached (1991mb). Seems quite normal now. So it s...

Re: Failure to increase min size
Hi Eduardo,
thank you for your reply. In attachment the conf file, this time I tried to increase the mem size just to 1000mb to see if incremental steps would work.
(I just needed to change the extension to .txt to be able to upload here)
All the best,
Glenn

[SOLVED] Failure to increase min size
Dear all, first of all I want to thank the community for providing this great software! It has been a pleasure getting to know the software and playing around. However, I have the following issue. Mac 10.8 - Java 64bit (first in running order) - quad i7 - 12gb ram After following the threads on incr...
