Re: Why is Gephi so slow?
Hi whywhywhy. Go to Tools > Visualization > OpenGL > check Show FPS and restart Gephi. That will show you how fast the overview updates. Having FPS higher than 15 is good. I tested overview with 5000 nodes and 37000 edges and it runs at about 15 FPS. Obviously the more you have nodes and edges visib...

Re: Toolkit from commandline?
Hmm... I'm not completely sure what you are exactly looking for. It is possible to create a JAR that you can run off the command line. However you need to program the functionality in Java by yourself. In your Java program you use the Gephi Toolkit as you would any other Java library. I have a one G...

Re: Toolkit from commandline?
Hi Bruce. There is no direct scripting support for Gephi Toolkit like that. It would be great if there was. You need to create a Java program that utilizes Gephi Toolkit to accomplish what you require. For examples check the code examples at https://wiki.gephi.org/index.php/Toolkit_portal. The Headl...

Re: Newbie questions about Edges & Nodes
Hi Nico. I recommend you take a look at VNA file format, https://gephi.org/users/supported-graph-formats/netdraw-vna-format/. You can open VNA files with Gephi. For example your network could look something like: *Node data ID name 1 domain1.com 2 domain2.com 3 domain3.com 4 domain4.com *Tie data fr...

Re: Eigenvector Centrality
Hi Akash. The eigenvector centrality algorithm is explained quite well here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14450185/eigenvector-centrality-algorithm-pseudocode (iterations is the value 100 in the example) . The more there are iterations the more accurate the centrality value becomes. In practic...

Re: Relationships with varying weights
Hi Lama. Gephi does not currently support multiple edges between nodes. However some people have figured out some workarounds to fit their needs. With Google search (https://www.google.com/search?q=multiple+edges+site%3Aforum.gephi.org) you can find relevant topics about the issue. Most recently luk...

Re: small graph visualization based in similitudes
Hi massich. You could try adjusting the edge weights (distances) between nodes with a different algorithm. For example you could have the distance algorithm be 1 / x^2 so that the most closest nodes become connected with heavier edge than those whose distance to each others is greater. More so you c...

Re: Same edge multiple times but with different attributes
Hi Tobias. Unfortunately Gephi currently does not support multiple edges. There aren't any good workarounds either. Requests to support multiple edges between nodes have been asked before. I'm sure some future version of Gephi will support multiple edges - but not now. One idea that comes to mind is...

Re: Nodes as Organizations
Do you know if you can color code nodes by label or some other descriptor? So for example, if each individual was tagged with the organization they belonged to, and I could color by the organization tag, it would be possible to see the influence of individuals while also seeing in a cursory way, by...

Re: Nodes as Organizations
Hello VSJFjake. I had similar thoughts when doing a Steam network graphing, see here: link . There are players who belong to groups. The group size grows the more there are players in them. Players can join multiple groups. Edges between groups are stronger the more there are same players in the gro...
