Strange Behaviour in Linux

Does anyone else have a problem with Gephi aesthetics on Linux? I've got really big fonts and I don't know why. I'm pretty sure it didn't always look like this, and other Java applications look fine (e.g. JDownloader). Normally the fonts are smaller and the menu isn't grey. I've uploaded a screenshot in the attachment section.

It's on Ubuntu 12.04, same effect with both Java 6 and 7 (Oracle's). Any ideas or similarities?
