Hi there,
can anybody tell me whether Gephi calculates the centralisation value of a given network (i.e. the degree to which the number of ties per node is distributed over all nodes)? I cannot find it in the stats... If it does, where can I see the value? If not, is there a plugin that calculates it?
Thanks in advance,
Best,
Timo
Network centralisation
Re: Network centralisation
Hi,
I am not sure I understand what you are looking for. Can you rephrase, or provide a reference with a url?
Thanks,
Clement

Re: Network centralisation
Sure. "The centralization of any network is a measure of how central its most central node is in relation to how central all the other nodes are." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrality#Centralization
Or here, at the end of the sub-section: http://faculty.ucr.edu/~hanneman/nettex ... ml#Freeman
For instance, a high degree centralisation value thus indicates that a small number of nodes hold a large number of all ties in the network (thus have an extraordinarily high degree centrality, while the majority has a small degree centrality). A small score indicates that all ties are relatively equally distributed over all nodes. A star network has a graph centralisation value of 1, a circle network of 0.
Best,
Timo

Hi,
Yes sure you'll find that in the "Degree" section of the stats panel. Try also other stats ("Diameter", etc) and check their results in the data laboratory: new columns should be created for nodes, detailing for each node the value for the metrics you just ran.
Best,
Clement

Re: Network centralisation
Hello,
I am searching the same, the he centralisation value of the network. Not for a given node, for all the network.
As I understand the Degree is a different thing.
Did you found this measure Timo?
Best
Cecilia

Hi, I am also looking for an answer to this.
