Hi,
A heatmap representation / layout would be nice, in the spirit of the VOS viewer (http://www.vosviewer.com/)
Snapshots can be checked here: http://www.vosviewer.com/maps/
The algorithms are described here: http://publishing.eur.nl/ir/repub/asset ... 05-LIS.pdf
The authors describe these representations as an alternative to "graph representations", and use it mainly for data on co-occurrence (of words, of citations... in the scientometric context).
But as I see it, heatmpas could be integrated in graph representation softwares like Gephi. They would in fact be very powerful (ie, it "speaks" well to the user) for any kind of data, including classic graph data that Gephi was made for. No?
So, I am not a specialist of Java, but is it something which could find an easy implementation in Gephi?
Best,
Clement

Re: Heatmap layout?
It would be only possible after the refactoring of the Preview module, sorry!

Re: Heatmap layout?
Yes, a refactored Preview would fit for this project.
The source code of VosViewer is available somewhere?
