Can Dynamic Attributes be used to Partition Data?

I couldn't find any solved posts like this, so here's a new one.
I have a dynamic graph which represents a group of people over time with changing research domains. I've set up a Dynamic String field for each node which looks something like this:
<[2004.0, 2005.0, "Health"];[2005.0, 2008.0, "Policy"];[2008.0, Infinity, "Mix"]>
<[2004.0, 2007.0, "Turnover"];[2007.0, 2012.0, "Health"]>
However, it doesn't show up when I refresh the node partitions in the Partition window. Is there a way to have it so that the nodes can be partitioned by a dynamic field?
