My table of edges comprises 3 columns (float), one is named Weight and the other ones have specific names. I can choose the three columns for weighting arcs from the ranking window, but the only one which have an effect in the overview (and graph) window is the one named Weight. It must be a bug or a new feature, as you can see.
Gephi remains our prefered software for graph visualisation but the developers community seems less active than before.
Tnx.

it would be great to have more control over the data output.
The scales:
lin-lin
lin-log
log-log
are really useful!!!! ;-)

thanks for your great work with gephy ! and good luck with linkurio.us!!!! http://linkurio.us/

I found a little mistake between the source column and the target column, so the names wouldn't match. Now it merges duplicates perfectly. Thanks

I'm having trouble with this topic as well. I obtain duplicate nodes when I import data from a .csv. It happens when a node exists as source and target. The problem is that Gephi does not identificate duplicate nodes even though the information in all the columns is the same.

Any ideas on what is happening?

Thank you,

Ignacio

On the other hand, you probably want to use sigma.js, which has an active community: http://sigmajs.org

If someone take over work on GraphGL, it would probably lead to integration as a Sigma.js plugin (or git fork), to give it a WebGL rendering engine, rather than developing a competing project, implementing the same features, layout algorithms again and again.

I, like many of you, am eagerly anticipating the results of this project. I tend to agree with comments above that the WebGL component should focus purely on rendering rather than on layouts. Layout is computationally expensive and best left to batch processing by a backend (which is already in place with Gephi Toolkit). I would much prefer the web component to focus on extensible interactivity and graph navigation features.

Can anyone update on the status of the project? Will there be another GSOC submission to finish the work that was begun?

IMHO we don't need to implement a layout algorithm on GraphGL for the moment. The priority is to focus on the rendering. GraphGL aims to visualize large graphs (larger than what flash, SVG or Canvas can do) so we can assume they are already layouted (by Gephi). Even with lots of efforts I don't think we can get 1/100th of the performance of Java. The rendering still need some polish like edge weights or labels.

Urban, the maintainer of GraphGL, is implementing Force Atlas.

https://github.com/uskudnik/GraphGL/commits/master

This is not ready and not optimized yet, but it is active, so stay tuned!

Actually what we need to help this sub-project is a lot of suggestions, feedbacks, bug reports, use cases, users..

From a technical point a view, contributors would be appreciated, too (One thing among others, there is work to do to optimize speed. For instance, currently we are using WebGL for rendering, but it is possible to use it to compute layout).

This feature first creates a new node.
Then for each edge of each node to merge creates an edge between the new node and the other node (undirected or directed depending on this edge) if possible. And if the other node is the same node it will create a self loop for the new node instead.
Finally deletes old merged nodes if desired.

Looking at the code I can see that sometimes the self-loop will not be created (would need to check if the other node is any of the nodes to merge). Is that the problem?

Can you show me an example of wrong behaviour with your data?
Eduardo

I am trying to find where exactly problem occurs but basically happens when I try to weld more nodes with several edges, than not all of the edges (from old sub-nodes) are present.
It looks like it work good only with merging two nodes.

Steps to use it:
Select nodes to merge, right click, choose Merge nodes and choose an strategy for each column.

I hope it helps and you can use it soon. Also please report a bug if any problem happens.

About the edges, we could let the user choose the new source and target from all the sources and targets of the merged edges. So we just create a new edge and remove the olders, but we can merge the attributes, which is the goal.
